My friend David came to visit and helped me laminate the final, top-most “sheer” string in place… we’re ready for planking! But we built a George Dyson baidarka years ago, and my son is twelve and wants to go on an overnight paddle with me to Blake Island, so I had to clean it up and give it a new coat of paint. We had black and white, so why not paint it in orca pattern? Reminds me of the lovely children’s book “Davy’s Dream” where a kid sails his Lightning class sailboat and is rescued by orcas.

The last stringers: ready to start planking.
Our baidarka “Pooh Stick”. Yeah, disgusting name, but named after the game Winnie the Pooh plays on the bridge with Piglet.
Me with paint on my legs.
