The compartments in the bow are sanded and painted and sealed, and a king-plank is fitted over the bow to support the weight of someone on deck. A samson post through this king-plank is a good place for anchors and tow rope to attach. The foremost compartment has a shelf installed and is coated out in epoxy to allow storage of the muddy anchor and chain. Drain holes through the planking allow water to drain from this open deck access.
